Micks Marine Maintenance’s pontoon docks – the very best

If you’re about to invest in a pontoon dock for your waterfront home, then you’ll want to ensure you’re investing in quality. After all, your pontoon must last you many years of use.

For pontoon docks along the South East QLD and Northern NSW coasts, look no further than Micks Marine Maintenance. We offer the very best in pontoon docks, each custom-designed to meet individual’s needs.

Discover what makes our pontoons the very best by learning how we create our pontoons.

Design & Layout

Micks Marine Maintenance manufactures custom pontoons of any shape and size using the very best materials. We design our pontoon docks with function and aesthetics to provide the best outcome.

The pontoon can be a cable pontoon, strut arm pontoon or piled pontoon forming a traditional L or T shape off the gangway, or can be more of a finger pontoon – narrow and long in design.

Together, with an independent engineer, we can design the perfect pontoon for your block—an engineer signs off on the pontoon and gangway before construction and post-installation.

We also review your quay line and take the necessary steps in submitting the approval needed to build a pontoon in your region.

Frame & Hardware

We manufacture our pontoons using a marine-grade aluminium frame and aluminium hardware to withstand marine environments.

Floating Dock

A quality floating dock is essential as the main component of a pontoon. Thus, the decks of our pontoons all have an internal reinforcing mesh with minimum concrete coverage of 50mm and a finished deck thickness of 100mm. There’s a Marine-grade aluminium whaler that is tied back into the concrete deck, and all our docks are finished with a marine-grade carpet backed by a 2-year manufacturer’s warranty.

The dock underside features a polystyrene void wrapped in an HDPE liner, each custom-made to ensure we can create the correct freeboard for your pontoon.

Aluminium Gangways

We can design and manufacture gangways to any length using marine-grade aluminium, making them non-corrosive and non-combustible. They’re lightweight yet solid and structurally stable. Their composition makes them extremely rugged, robust, and easy to move and transport.

Our aluminium gangways, both their material and design, are constructed to provide longevity in the harsh environment they are exposed to daily.

Decking Options

We offer various decking options with our aluminium gangways; aluminium sheeting with marine carpet is a very popular choice on the Gold Coast, ensuring a match of the gangway deck to the pontoon deck. Another popular choice is FRP Grating, which is Fibreglass Reinforced Plastic, providing a low-maintenance, visually appealing option used in many commercial applications and is also very suitable for residential applications. Timber decking is also an option for those who prefer a more natural look.

Mooring

We use steel-reinforced concrete mooring blocks to anchor strut pontoons and cable pontoons to shore and In-situ piles to moor piled pontoons in place.

Cable pontoons, in addition to the gangway mooring block, use two additional concrete mooring blocks on-shore – one on either side of the gangway, while strut arm pontoons only require one additional mooring block to the gangway. Piled pontoons only have a gangway mooring block. We provide tieback or pier-style mooring blocks depending on your location and our engineer’s specification.

If you’re unsure what type of mooring you need, don’t worry. We can review your location and advise as to which is best suited to your site.
